I am adding to my blog because I really want to go eat some swiss cake rolls. This is going to distract me for a bit, I hope. So what to write about? How about more on what a lame parent I am? Yesterday I gave Frances (Olivia scored one too) an ice cream cone- it was small- for getting in her car seat without a fight. How lazy is that?
So- I love listening to myself coming through Olivia already. Today she was online (she's FOUR) and she's "browsing" the My Little Pony website and she says "Hey! I have that one!" and she says "Hillarie! (Yes- she calls me Hillarie) Get my pony over there."
And she's pointing in the kitchen and I see nothing resembling a pony. Anyways, she keeps pointing and she's getting exasperated with me and finally I see a miniscule Pony magnet on the fridge and I pull it off and walk it over to her. She's got huge grin on her face but then she gets all serious and says "Thanks.... but you should have looked harder." We have this discussion almost daily when she glances in her room or her closet and then says "Mom, I can't find it!!"
These days she's looking for a "bride" (we're semi-confident that means Groom). And when she grows up, she says she'd like to be my sister. I'm just happy that despite my clueless mothering, so far she wants to stick around.
I swear I really don't talk about my body or my weight around Liv (except for calorie-talk but I'm pretty sure she hasn't been browsing The Daily Plate or anything) but a while back at the park we were playing "snack shack" and she asked "What can I get for you?" and I said "I'd like a HUMONGOUS chocolate chip cookie please- like this big" holding my fingers in a plate sized circle, and she says "Um..... I think that will make you really big, so how about you take this small cookie?". I mean, it sortof alarmed me to hear that! She doesn't even know the word "fat", thank goodness, but I don't know whether to be pleased that she is starting to be a little health-conscious or terrified that she'll be on a diet by kindergarten.
